The hippest wine region in Argentina right now? The Uco Valley in the province of Mendoza. Where should you stay? Salentein Posada. Think countryside with sophistication and comfort, and delicious things to drink, eat, and do. There are horses to ride, bikes to pedal about on, and a swimming pool. But we didn’t do any of these things. We visited the art gallery, which is right next to Bodegas Salentein, the corresponding winery. The wines are gorgeous. So was the winery itself and the art in the gallery. As for the on-site wine store? You can also pick up some Argentinian olive oil too. Here’s a secret: there’s some really good olive oil to be had in Argentina — and for much less than what you’d pay in Italy. Take an empty suitcase because there will be lots of things you’ll want to bring back home. Maybe even a work of art?
