Château Monfort
It was a sad moment when I realized I was too full from dinner and breakfast to be able to enjoy – even a small bite! – of dessert. The cheesecake looked divine. Photo by Gloria J. Chang.
The moral of this hotel stay? Always pay the extra $7 for trip cancellation and interruption on your annual travel medical insurance. When I got to the airport in Milan, Italy for my morning flight home to Vancouver via London, I was told to come back the next day. Too much fog in London. A whole day in Milan! Where would I stay? What would I do? Château Monfort came up as a top pick on my hotel app on my smartphone, so that’s where I went. One of my best hotel stays ever. Staff came to greet me and help me with my luggage even before I got out of my taxi, which was greatly appreciated because I was counting on sleeping on the flight home. Groggy and tired was how I arrived. But well-rested and rejuvenated was how I left. There is a candy bar in the hotel lobby. (There’s a real bar as well). The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had, if not the best. And the spa is gorgeous and oh-so-relaxing. So much attention to detail. So elegant. Just an absolute dream of a place to stay. Also, it’s a short walk to the city centre. Have a close look at the lights above the dining table in the photo gallery below.
