To Chablis or Not to Chablis? A Most Fabulous French Wine Tasting

When: Friday, September 26, 2014 7-9pm

Where: Rising Star Building, 1556 East 5th Avenue, Vancouver

It would be almost a sin to call a Chablis by its grape Chardonnay.

That’s because this beautiful chardonnay made in the town of Chablis, France (tiny, tiny town in northeast France) is a Chardonnay like no other. Finesse, elegance, verve – how not to fall in love! Join us for a tasting of our favourite Chablis and learn about Chablis, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru and even Petit Chablis, which really has no business taking on the Chablis name. Come find out why! And leave with the confidence to buy and enjoy Chablis on your own.

This wine tasting includes a stones tasting (yes, a stones tasting), and oysters on the half shell (and a few other pairings to go with) to learn about “terroir” and the confounding and controversial use of the word “mineral” to describe wine. It is the first of three Wine Adventures Tastings for Fall/Winter 2014 we’ll be hosting.

To Chablis or Not to Chablis? Is there even a question!

*This is a small group tasting around a beautiful table in the heart of East Vancouver off Commercial Drive. Expect a group of gregarious wine lovers and curious coming together for a social evening that engages, entertains, and enlightens.
